The Art of Miles Davis (Beaux Arts Series)
Published in Paperback by Simon & Schuster (Paper) (April, 1991)
Authors: Miles Davis and Scott Gutterman
Average review score:

It's All Here
For fans of the great adventurer Miles Davis' music, this book is visual witness to the constant creativity of his music. He paints and draws in the way that he played-elegant, mysterious and sensuous. At other times, quick and skittering. The paintings are that, too. Layers of his solo imagination appear, curving, colorful, playful. They are painted. Tricks of musical fantasy, dual personalities, remembrances and hints are on the canvases. The bold strokes of his genius are displayed. Miles Davis was a never-ending surprise on the stage. He was intense, serious. He led music past the boundaries known and into so many new places in the heart, mind and soul. The textures and rhythms of the quest he led are captured in his art.

This oversized, paperback art book (originally published in 1991, the year he died) is long out of print. It has become rare and precious. Highly recommended for all who want to "see" what he saw and painted...and played.

Astronauts Are Sleeping
Published in Library Binding by Knopf (December, 1996)
Authors: Natalie Standiford, Allen Garns, J. Davis, and Natalie Sandiford
Average review score:

Whimsical and Compelling
Finding the right book for children can be a thankless task. Fortunately, the author's fine sense of imagery and subtlety make this a delight for children as well as parents. An antidote to the mindlessness of many children's books, Astronauts are Sleeping mixes the dreaminess of Pink Floyd with the resonant images of Dylan. Highly recommended.

An Autobiographical Account by a Leading Sardinian Republican Politician of Resistance to Fascism in Sardinia from 1918-1930: Marcia Su Roma E Dintor
Published in Hardcover by Edwin Mellen Press (July, 1992)
Authors: Emilio Lussu and Roy W. Davis
Average review score:

revelating
I believe this book deserve 10 stars for the humor (if possible) and the clarity in which the growth of the fascism in Italy is described. Not in Rome, not in a major town in Italy, but in a small and relatively unimportant place (for the continent) that can be the beautiful Sardinia. This is a history (or perhaps a chronicle) of how the fascism took place in Sardinia, masterly narrated by Lussu with clarity and most of all the humor of who knew that things were only to get worse. All who claim they know about fascism should first read this.

The Autobiography of Philosophy
Published in Paperback by Rowman & Littlefield Publishing (January, 1999)
Author: Michael Davis
Average review score:

An excellent guide to the deeper meaning of Rousseau
Here one walks into profound reveries of unraveled clarity. Davis's book is a powerful, inspired, and enormously thought explication which gives birth to new wisdom honoring the words of Rousseau. Davis knows that the only way to do justice to him is to faithfully and painstakingly follow Rousseau's path. He is the most fortunate of authors to have Michael Davis as his companion. Suffer the first four chapters; what follows, especially in the last two chapters, will justify your effort to understand. Anyone interested in philosophy should read this book.

Automotive Reference: A New Approach to the World of Auto-Related Information
Published in Paperback by Whitehorse (March, 1987)
Author: G. J. Davis
Average review score:

The Best of It's Kind
[The Resurrection of a Great Out-of-Print Classic]:
When this remarkable publication first appeared in March 1987, it was hailed as an automotive reference book like no other.

Many important book reviewers (major USA car manufacturer VPs, auto journalists, editors, librarians, car owners, truck drivers, etc.) quickly got in line to express their positive opinions about its value. In short order, thousands of USA and Canadian libraries adopted this book. The 8.5x11 format and 470 text-only pages (in small type), was not fancy. But, it contained an immense amount of carefully-uniquely organized automotive knowledge - found no where else.

The closest books today,
are half the size,
less half the number of pages,
and don't even begin to cover the subject like this timeless classic does.
It is truly one-of-a-kind.

[Interesting Side Note]:
In the late 1980s,
China's copyright agency expressed interest
in buying the reprint rights to the book.
Those rights were not granted.

[Book Availability]:
Print copies of the book are not currently available.
However, a special collector's edition has been created.

Concise, complete chronology of the B24 with great photos.
Anyone interseted in the history and use of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator during WWII will find this book a great reference guide. It is well written. Organized in chornological sequence documenting the B-24 from pre-war design and manufacturing through the life span of the plane, this book includes descriptions of modifcations and design enhancements implemented during the war. The B-24's use as a strategic and combat weapon is vividly described. The photos are outstanding. This large, 60 page paperback will appeal to readers of all ages.

Badge of Honor (Intimate Moments , No 871)
Published in Paperback by Silhouette (August, 1998)
Author: Justine Davis
Average review score:

A Seemingly Impossible Conflict of Interest
This one keeps you waiting until the near end for Kit and Miguel to risk all for their feelings. It's an intricate, excellent story. The love scenes are very worth the wait. Kit and her Chief of Police make a beautiful team, on or off the job. You'll love them even while you're screaming for one of them to make the first move.

Justine's law enforcement background comes through in this tell-it-like-it-is workaday world, especially where a serious conflict of interest is involved. You won't want to put it down! -Lee Emory

The Baizel Berry Bread
Published in Library Binding by Cobblestone Enterprises (March, 1997)
Author: Matt Davis
Average review score:

Wonderful!!
Matt Davis has done a wonderful job. So many children's books are the same and follow the same formula. Matt's book does not do that. It is fun and children really become involved with the story. It's too bad the berries don't exist. The bread sounds delicious! You will find your mouth watering and wondering what is going to happen in the end.
